Thomas "Tom" E. Halbakken

Thomas E. Halbakken, 71, of Elk River, MN died Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.  Thomas Eugene Halbakken was born March 20, 1954, the son of Homer and Marjorie (Swanson) Halbakken. Tom was a graduate of Pelican Rapids High School and Moorhead Technical School; and he worked as an electrical journeyman at Honeywell for 40 years.  

Tom married Rebecca (Becky) M. Knutson on July 10, 1976 in Fergus Falls, MN, nearly 50 years of marriage. 

Tom enjoyed the outdoors and fishing with his friend George; and making quilts.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca; children Christopher and Travis Halbakken; grandchildren Michael and Olive; and sister, Pamela Westby.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Due to the inclement weather forecast, Tom's memorial service is rescheduled to Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM, at Dare's Funeral Home in Elk River, MN.
